A NEW KIND OF COMMUNITY FOR GLOBAL CITIZEN FAMILIES

Professional work life has undergone a drastic change from where it was just a decade ago, and now, people have different options. In today’s world people frequently relocate for work, they are members of international teams, they make career pivots, and they upskill with online education. This change in work style and career opportunities has demanded new skills of employees, such as the ability to work with team members spread around the globe.

We are each a member of networks greater than ourselves; a member of a family, a member of a community, a citizen of a country. Our connection to other people helps define who we are.

RELOCATION PROMISES RAINBOWS, BUT FIRST REQUIRES RAIN

I am someone who has travelled for work, not only between countries, but continents. And with that, comes exciting opportunities, yet incredible cultural challenges. I have encountered my fair share of obstacles working in the globalized job market, but more needs to be said for those who relocate with their family and children in tow.

These kids suddenly find themselves at a new school, sometimes in a place where they don’t speak the local language, friendless, confused, and struggling to surmount these unexpected barriers in their new world. It is imperative for proper social development that kids have friends, play games, understand the world around them and feel safe as part of their community. Relocating can make that incredibly difficult for them, and this scenario is becoming increasingly more common as families relocate for global work opportunities.

AN APP THAT BRINGS THE SUNSHINE

There is a growing need for tools that encourage digital global citizenship, ensuring that as families move around the world, they have means of growing sustainable friendships for their kids. Moi Panda is a family-oriented app designed as a safe space for interactive games based learning and socializing. The app helps families with children connect with other families to learn about culture and global citizenship. Kids match with others and engage in culture-based games and activities earning points, which are used to care for co-owned digital pets. Games and features encourage parent involvement, creating a holistic space for learning and family socialization. The app soothes the hardships faced by the children of immigrant families, and subsequently, the hardships felt by the parents – it can be tricky to create connections upon relocation, be they of a professional, or social nature.

The globalized workforce causes career paths to meander, and relocating can be exciting, but is not always easy on accompanying family members and children. Moi Panda gets this. As a migrant worker who has been privy to the hardships of relocation, I am happy to be working with a company that is also cognizant of these hardships. Moi Panda has created an impactful learning space for families, bringing them together in the name of fun, learning, and global community.

If your family wants fun social connection, sign up, give it a try, and make friendly learning connections!
